Meet The Team

Jon Whitfield

With 14 years of experience in the self-storage industry, Jon specialises in identifying opportunities that improve efficiency, increase revenue, and enhance customer experience. His approach is data-driven, and geared toward analyzing Space Manager – uncovering trends that maximize occupancy, refine pricing strategies, and boost additional revenue.

Jon was a key member of the senior leadership team that grew and sold the UK’s largest independent self-storage company, overseeing strategic initiatives that scaled the business from 2 to 28 locations. One of the standout achievements was designing and implementing bespoke self-storage software, enabling fully remote operations—the first system of its kind in the UK.

Beyond revenue optimization, Jon focuses on refining the customer journey. From streamlining move-ins to improving user experience, he can help self-storage operators create seamless, high-converting processes that drive long-term success.

As an added service, Jon is a certified Data Protection Officer, and is working towards an advanced certificate in business compliance – so he can also review all business practises and ensure compliance throughout.

Now, with the launch of Whitfield, Lamb and Associates with a trusted industry colleague and long term friend, his goal is simple: to help self-storage businesses unlock their full potential through smarter systems, sharper strategies, and a more profitable customer experience.

John Lamb

John started out his career in field sales and IT before moving into self storage. Starting with UK Storage Company as Head of Marketing and Sales when they had just two locations, he worked closely with the owner as they went on an aggressive expansion drive. John then spearheaded the finding of new sites, handling the planning and then the filling of the sites. Through digital marketing such as Google and traditional avenues that included signage, leaflet drops, and newspapers, he helped the company double in size every three years.

Part of that company growth was due to the innovative ways the company handled the customer journey and the dynamic pricing. Something John was fundamental in the instigation and running of.

In 2022, John led the sale of the company along with Managing Director and company founder – Keith Taylor, helping to achieve a significant sum for the business. He then remained part of the business as it transitioned from a family owned company to an investor led entity.

By the time John left UK Storage Company, he was handling a marketing budget of over £1 million as the company promoted 29 locations, the vast majority of which John had found.

Should you want somebody who has had to work under tight budget restrictions and has a thorough knowledge about growing a business, get in touch.
